Geoff Smith grew up in central Texas, and studied art history and studio printmaking at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He returned to Texas in 2010 to work in Houston at Caroline Collective, Houston's first and (at the time) largest coworking space. As the sole employee, he managed the facilities, organized special programs and events, including exhibitions.

From 2012-2014, he worked for the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston from in the Development (fundraising) department and wrote content for Arts + Culture Magazine, a state-wide publication for art reviews and criticism. He currently works for the American Institute of Architects, Houston Chapter and produces events and serves on the Community Programs, Home Tour, Design Awards, and annual Gala committees.

Geoff started programming Ruby in late 2013 and turned to Elixir/Erlang in 2015. Throughout 2014 and 2015, Geoff worked with Sidereal Labs and focused on natural language processing.
